S'ian, lifemate to bronze Soloth.

Sebastian The blazing gaze that flows from eyes set beneath blackened brows meets yours with startling awareness, sweeping over your body with deft, darting movements. Crowning S'ian's head are locks of raven-black, streaked with dark steel-gray strands. Falling just shy of his ears the locks fall, sweeping downward over his forehead and into his vision. And though he does his best to keep them in an inverted V, it rarely works. That eyes that returned your gaze are a startling amber hue, with the occasional flecks of green and brown. A small nose has been neatly placed in the center of his face, which has been tanned a golden-brown by the rays of Southern. The lips that are more-than-occasionally spread into a teasing smile, with an occasional flirting tilt, are a darkened brown a few tones darker than his skin.
The voice that will emanate from his lips from time to time is a soft-spoken tenor, and would most likely make a fine singing voice. Today, S'ian is wearing riding leathers which are standard for the warmer Southern climate. A wherhide jacket has been haphazardly tossed onto his upper body, over a blouse-like, bright white shirt. The jacket hangs open when not in use, to provide circulation. The shirt has been carelessly tucked into dark brown wherhide riding pants, which, in turn, have been tucked into black wherhide boots. The knot on his shoulder has been weaved with the colors of Southern Weyr, a thin strand of golden bronze woven through to identify the color of his lifemate, bronze Soloth.

Sebastian's life before being active on 'On Wings Of Dragons'.

S'ian (or Sebastian as he used to be called before impression) is the first son of a master harper called Basten and an assistant headwoman, Seriana, both living at Telgar Hold. And, despite his father's age (over fourty-five turns already), Sebastian was soon joined by his sister, Astiana. They both led a faitly pleasant childhood at the hold, their parents trying to ease Sebastian and Astiana's life as much as possible. Astiana was Sebastian's constant and faithful playmate, the bouncy, fun loving one of the two, whereas he was the more serious, even somewhat the studious one of the two children. They filled their days with harper lessons, pranks and some adventurous escapades out of the hold.
Some time before Sebastian's ninth turnday, Basten's family got a fifth member with the birth of a baby girl named Sarani. Astiana, who always dreamed of being the "big sis", developped an early form of motherly instinct. She insisted to help her mother feed her sister, bathe her and even change her diapers. Around this time, and to his father's joie, Sebastian started to show some interest in music and harper life. He was often seen trailing around after his father, bugging him about some lessons or some songs. So, when he reached the age of twelve, his father decided to send Sebastian at the Harper Hall, where he could really start his apprenticeship.

During his first turns at the main harper hall, he proved to be a rather studious and competent apprentice. His father's teaching was quite an advantage but he learned alot from the various masters and journeymen from the hall, and was always eager to learn more. He quickly made a couple good friends among the other apprentices, like Sevarlin, a brat from High Reaches Weyr, Lennia, a trader girl who chose to stay at the hall, and Sylvara, a young girl from Dawnstar Weyr who was obviously the most talented of the little group. Sebastian's feelings for Sylvara were beyond friendship in fact, but he never said a word to her or anybody else about it. Though, Sylvara never seemed to consider Sebastian as more than a friend. But the little group grew really close and were often involved in pranks while not studying.

'On wings of Dragons' - The beginning.

Everything was going pretty well in Sebastian's life. At least until he learned his father fell seriously ill after being hit by a heart attack. Really worried, he asked for a posting at Telgar, to be close to his father. Unfortunately, he was told that he couldn't be posted before reaching a higher rank. Angry, he decided to quit the hall to move back to Telgar, suspending his studies by the same way. He spent the next turn at his dying father's side.
But his father's heart was weak and tired and eventually stopped to beat. Broken-hearted, and without real motivation to return to the harper hall since he learned that both Sevarlin and Sylvara reached journeyrank and were posted away from the Hall and Lennia was searched and impressed a green dragon at Igen Weyr, he decided to stay, trying to comfort his mother and sisters. Learning about Sebastian's father death, the Harper Craftmaster sent his condolence and regards to the family, adding a note for Sebastian, stating that the young lad could stay at Telgar Hold as a posted harper but would have to come back to the main hall when he would be ready to walk the tables to journeyrank.

Sebastian stayed at the hold for a couple more months, helping his mother and younger sisters. But his mother eventually convinced Sebastian to finish his apprenticeship. Sebastian packed again, a bit reluctantly though, and he was about to join a trader caravan that was supposed to stop at Fort Hold and the Harper Hall when a pair of Telgarian riders came to the Hold.
Discreetly, he managed to hear a couple words from their converstation with the Lord and Lady Holder. The riders came to the Hold on Search! Soon a bunch of young boys and girls were gathered in the Hall's courtyard, the blue and green dragons peering at them intensely. Sebastian stayed aside, watching the search dragons sniffing at the Hold's excited or frightened younglings, when Lord Dylan spotted him and asked him to join the group. A bit startled, Sebastian was about to object but finally joined the line of boys, not wanting to disobey to the Lord Holder. Eventually green Cherbith came to Sebastian and started sniffling at him, nudging him and whuffling at him before Yira, the green's lifemate, asked Sebastian to stand at their upcoming hatching. Astonished, he stayed speechless until the Lord Holder went to congratulate him and wish him good luck. Sebastian rushed in the hall to announce his mother he was going to Telgar Weyr as a candidate rather than returning to the Harper Hall before leaving with the telgarian riders.

Candidacy didn't bring much changes to Sebastian's life as his days were usually filled with various chores like during his first turns at the Harper Hall. Yet, being constantly surrounded by riders and dragons was quite new and exciting. Candidacy was also the time to make new friends, among them were Miriran and Silvera, two stablehands from Telgar Weyr, Ellora, a scribe from Igen Weyr and Kyra and Darryn, from Telgar Hold like Sebastian. Like in his apprenticehood, time not spend doing chores was often spend ploting some pranks along with Miriran and Kyra. Miriran and Sebastian grew very close during candidacy, spending as much time together as possible. Yet, they never really get romantically involved, the rules of candidacy being quite strict and Sebastian's feelings for Sylvara still being quite strong. Finally, hatching day came, the dragons humming as the eggs started to rock on the sands.

The hatching!

*** On Winds of Dragons was shut down a couple days before the hatching. The hatching took place on AIM while OWOD's wizards were looking for a game where to transfer OWOD's people and dragons. ***

Sebastian rushed for his hatching robe and slipped in it quickly before being led to the sands with the other candidates. Standing between Miriran and Kyra, moving to one feet to another, Sebastian nervously waited for the first egg to crack and the first dragonet to appear. Rare thing, the first dragon to hatch was a damp yet beautiful little queen who claimed Ellora as hers. Soon, eggs were cracking everywhere around the hatching sands, green, blue, brown and bronzes dragonets looking for their lifemates.
Then, Dashing Glimmers of Gold Bronze made his appearence, announcing his presence with a loud bugle. After some hesitant steps, he rushed toward the little group where Sebastian was waiting.

" ... Dashing Glimmers of Gold Bronze stirs up a rather impressive cloud of sandy dust as he *skids* to a halt! He stands stock still, the only movement is that of his rapidly whirling eyes as he locks his gaze upon Sebastian! The staring faceted eyes of the bronze quickly whirl from red to a soft green-blue, and you hear your heart pounding as the entire WORLD pauses!
Right at that moment you feel an undefinable sensation surge through your body. Suddenly your consciousness is focused both in you and in the bronze dragonet. Every breath you take, every movement, is both you and the tiny dragonet. You feel an overwhelming rush of unconditional and boundless love and you know, with perfect certainty, that you will never be alone again.
<< I am Soloth, S'ian, I love you! We are together! I will never leave you! >>
As the feelings sink in and your heart feels near to bursting with joy and love, you hear a second thought that has a very plaintive tone to it.
<< I'm so hungry! Can we eat now? >> ..."

[Note : This isn't exactly Soloth's impression message as it was lost in the move to Hatching Sands. Yet, I really love this one and adapted it slightly to fit to Soloth's impression to S'ian.]

Impression was made and Sebastian, now S'ian, left the sands with his lifemate to feed the starving bronze. Among the new weyrling pairs were Ellora and gold Genesith, D'ryn (Darryn) and brown Levith, A'ton (Ashton) and bronze Naboth, F'yn (Fadyn) and bronze Exodeth, Rlanna and green Obadiath, Holly and green Ezrath, Kyra and green Hoseath, Silvera and blue Micath and Tadiera and green Haggaith. A new life started for Sebastian and his loving bronze, Soloth! Yet, he was really sad when he learned that Miriran didn't find a lifemate on the sands this same day.

'Hatching Sands' - A new beginning.

*** Soon after the hatching, most people were allowed to move to Hatching Sands MUX. The riders (weyrlings included) were divided into the three Weyrs, Sebastian moving to DawnStar Weyr. All the weyrlings were considered a full riders as most if not all had already rider alts on other games. ***

And S'ian went through weyrlinghood quite smoothly, avoiding troubles as much as possible for once. Every day was a new and exciting experience with his bronze lifemate. And soon graduation came and S'ian was assigned to a fighting wing along with all of his fellow weyrlings.

About a whole turn passed before a little group of weyrlings from Greystones Weyrhold came to Dawnstar Weyr for their first between training. While their weyrlingmaster was talking with the Sr. Weyrwoman, S'ian met one of the weyrlings, a young queen rider called Bria. For the first time since he left the Harper Hall ... and Sylvara, his heart started to beat furiously and his knees started to shake. After a brief conversation with the young gold weyrling, he convinced her to allow him to visit her at Greystones.
For the next couple of sevendays, S'ian stopped at Greystones Weyr as often as possible and Bria practiced betweening to Dawnstar Weyr at every occasions. It was obvious to many that the two were attracted by eachother. In fact they exchanged their first kiss even before Bria's graduation.
S'ian and Bria's romance slowly blossomed, reaching a peak when, a few months after Bria's graduation, S'ian asked her to be his weyrmate. Both knew it wouldn't be the common weyrmating as both lived in separate Weyrs. But they truely loved eachother so ...

Once, while visiting Bria at Greystones, their conversation drifted to parenthood. Bria soon confessed to S'ian that she was pregnant, almost two months already. She also confessed she didn't tell him before because she feared his reaction. S'ian reassured his weyrmate with a long and passionate kiss and, when he returned to Dawnstar, Soloth told most of the Weyr's dragons that his rider was going to be a clutch daddy.
Yet, a hatching brought a new bunch of weyrlings and S'ian was asked to teach them as an assistant weyrlingmaster. And, with Bria's responsibilities as Jr. Weyrwoman and Apprentice Dragonhealer, plus the fact that Bria was weyr bound, the newly weyrmated couple didn't have much occasions to see eachother. The little time they spend together often ended in an argument, and often about the most futile matters.

One day, after the morning lessons and while the weyrlings were allowed to have some spare time in the afternoon, S'ian was drinking some wine in the weyrhall when a greenrider from Igen Weyr entered and asked for the Weyrleaders. S'ian didn't pay much attention to the greenrider at first well, until she walked to his table and exclamed an ecstatic "Sebastian?! Is it you?!" Looking up, S'ian realized the Igen's greenrider was in fact his old friend Lennia, his fellow Harper apprentice quite some time ago. He always thought Lennia reached journeyrank and was posted to some Hold or Weyr, he never imagined his friend could have been searched and impressed a dragon, green Chessyth.
S'ian and Lennia spent the day talking, remembering the time they were both apprentices and their life suddenly was changed after they got searched. Lennia finally asked if S'ian was still in contact with Sylvara. She knew the two had feelings for eachother during their apprenticehood. When S'ian replied that he'd been looking for a journeyranked and even a masterranked harper called Sylvara for turns and nobody ever seemed to know her. Lennia bursted into a soft laughter and informed S'ian that he should rather look for a "Jr Weyrwoman Sylvara". In fact Sylvara was searched and impressed gold Everenth at Honshu Weyr at few sevendays before S'ian's impression to Soloth. At this moment, S'ian pondered just betweening to Honshu to see his first love but he knew this would make things even worse between him and Bria and thus banned this idea from his mind. Lennia and S'ian promised to visit eachother othen just before the greenrider had to leave.

Yet, soon after Lennia's visit and after another argument with Bria, S'ian flew to Honshu Weyr, hoping to see Sylvara. There he was told that Sylvara was tranfered to another Weyr, Crescent Moon Weyr on a small island near the western continent. Another long trip ::between:: and he landed in Crescent Moon Weyr's bowl.
He didn't need much time to find Sylvara. Entering the living cavern, he immediatly spotted the weyrwoman's slender and sensuous figure. She was there, quietly sipping at some juice and absently reading over some hides. And with this sight, he forgot all his problems, just like seven turns or so ago, while they were two apprentices at the Harper Hall. Once the surprise passed, Sylvara ran into S'ian's arms, and their embrace seemed to last forever. Then they spend hours talking, about their new lives since they impressed, their lifemates and of course their turns as apprentices. Of course S'ian told Sylvara about Bria but also explained her he was considering spliting up with her. And it was even a certitude now.

Unconditional Loving Bronze Soloth,
- or, as I use to call him, Songs of Love Bronze Soloth -

Before you is a long-limbed bronze who boasts a certain rakish, even fool-hardy air about him. From the mercurial whirl in his faceted eyes, to the jaunty arch of his slightly kinked tail, he displays the true nature of his dragonesque form. Predominately tarnished-metallic patches enhance his clean swept jugular, the dappling coloration winding it's way down the curve of his underbelly, disappearing under the arch of his flanks. Molten lava blazes across his wings as he stretches his shimmering blacked-cinnamon wingspars out. Russet seers dance like flames across the thick membranes of his sails, giving a mysterious depth where none could be found. His headknobs are frosted with a light coating of mossy green, adding that antiqued look to his overall hide. Strong and razor sharp obsidian talons loop dangerously from his paws.
Soloth is wearing a set of sturdy and well oiled flight straps. The straps are made of soft, supple wherhide, with padding to protect both the riders and dragon from scraping or chafing.
Soloth is 4 Turns, 11 months, and 3 days. He is 37.30 meters, and has a wingspan of 63 meters.

Bronze Soloth

Soloth's Egg : Songs of Love Egg

Undulating waves of burnished bronze slide and ooze across the hardening shell of an egg in the center of the clutch. The tip of the egg and every dripping wave appears to be crowned by cooled, sparkling bronze, beneath which lies the irridescent, almost black of smouldering metal with its whisps of scintillatingly grey smoke curling up the sides. The heat pulsates from this egg, causing your upper lip to bead with the faintest hint of prespiration, a sensation that tickles at the front of your mind. The base of the egg puddles into nothingness at its resting place in the sands, protected by its mother's shining tail, the black sand pushed lovingly up against the shell. Perhaps it keeps the great gold warm or maybe even gives her the same protection she provides. Either way, this egg seems to draw the eye and hold it for many long moments.

Dashing Glimmers of Gold Bronze Hatchling :

This long-limbed bronze dragonet boasts a certain rakish even foolhardy air from the mercurial whirl in his faceted eyes to the jaunty arch of his slightly kinked tail. Though predominately a blackened tarnished hue metallic patches enhance his clean sweep of jugular and curve of underbelly disappearing under the arch of his flanks. His tenor voice is incessant and his talons razor sharp. And yet... even as you watch him stride across the sands towards the half circle of candidates, his fluid movements suggest something deeper... something greater. His eyes swirl swiftly, but glimmer with an affection that hungers for a home. His wingsails snap out, sending ichor flying towards candidates and his silvery winsails sparkle in the light which spills forth from the entrance to the cavern.

Soloth's temper :

Soloth is bashful. He's modest. He's solemn. He takes his duties to heart. Rather like Solomon in the book, Song of Solomon, there's always a lingering wistfullness and uncertainty to his actions. Even after winning a greenflight, << Do you think she -really- likes me? >> he might ask of you. Despite his uncertainties, however, he's innately trustworthy and dependable. His wingmates, and you, will never have cause to question his adroitness in Threadfall, or his sincerity in wing drills; and his accepting, non-critical attitude towards others and towards life adds to his maturity and endears him to his fellows. Mistakes--for they will happen--are accepted philosophically, with a << It could have happened anytime, but now it's already over! >> attitude. Without question, he is your unfailing support and you are his: it's a fair partnership, with friendship, love, and support tendered in equal measure. You'll never have cause to doubt where you stand with him, or he with you.

Soloth's inspiration :

The song of songs, which is Solomon's. Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth for thy love is better than wine. Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is an ointment poured forth therefor do the virgins love thee. Draw me we will run after thee: the King hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in the, we will remember they love more than wine the upright love thee. I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar as the curtains of Solomon. Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother's children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vinyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept. This dragon is based off of the book, the Song of Solomon. The Song of Solomon is a collection of six beautiful songs expressing the wonder of unselfish love between a husband and his wife. Some of the key themes in this book are: Courtship (chapters 1-3); the wedding (3-5); growth in marriage (5-8); the nature and power of love (8).
